For the first time since 2005, the Rams and the Flames will collide under the Friday night lights. While St. Mary's and Lodi aren't the San Joaquin Athletic Association opponents they used to be, the game still features a historic neighboring-town rivalry that will be renewed tonight at Sanguinetti Field in Stockton.

The last time the two teams faced each other, it was in the semifinals of the playoffs during Thanksgiving weekend of 2005 and the Rams edged the Flames 28-21 in overtime at the Grape Bowl. St. Mary's head coach Tony Franks still calls that game one of the most exciting he has ever been a part of and he has been looking forward to playing the Flames ever since.
