Liberty Ranch 39, Calaveras 35 Girls basketball: Hawks rally, score gritty road upset of Redskins

Last year marked the Liberty Ranch Hawks varsity girls basketball team’s first-ever playoff win. The Hawks set another milestone on Tuesday night, with their first postseason victory on the road — and they got a little payback in the process.

No. 10 Liberty Ranch (18-10) overcame a sluggish offensive performance to upset Division IV’s seventh-ranked Calaveras Redskins 39-35 in San Andreas. The Redskins had knocked the Hawks out of last year’s tournament as a top seed.
