Carson Guendert’s decision to give up gymnastics four years ago is looking like a good one.
The St. Mary’s High School sophomore left the gym for the pool when injuries began to mount and has become one of the area’s premiere divers. On Friday, he kept his undefeated streak for the season alive by winning the Central Valley Invitational at Cortopassi Aquatic Center in Stockton. Guendert won the 1-meter competition out of close to 20 divers with a 276, a score he wasn’t pleased with. However, it was 74 points above second place.
