Noteworthy: Bertsch would like to run at a
military academy. He will set the tempo for the rest of the team.
There should be a lot of competition for the top seven spots.
Wright, a longtime track and field coach, says continuity with
cross country and track and field is really beneficial.
Winterhalter is the head track and field coach. Wright says the
addition of Jeanna Christy as the girls coach is going to be a
great asset. Todd Oesterman, the hurdles coach during track season,
and Randy Hale, a 4:06 miler in college, will also be helping

Last year: Tokay’s boys were fourth in the
TCAL. The Tokay girls were also down in the standings.

Noteworthy: Leffer is the defending TCAL

Johnson is back after missing last season with knee injures.
Tokay’s frosh-soph boys won the TCAL title last year. Schatz and
Vlavianos finished 1-2 in all the TCAL frosh-soph meets last

Noteworthy: Kroll suffered serious iron
depletion and several injuries last year and was edged out by one
place of a second trip to the state championships. She is the
favorite to win the league individual title. Tokay lost two senior
runners. Sousa and Perales were part of last year’s TCAL champion
