Tokay 31, El Dorado 30
Chris Sanchez scored on a 1-yard quarterback keeper with 27 seconds left to lift the Tigers to victory in a wild finish on Thursday at Tokay.
The Tigers had blown an early 19-0 lead as El Dorado stormed back to take the lead, scoring two touchdowns in the final four minutes — the last with 1:17 remaining — to go ahead for the first time, 30-25.
Tokay took over at its own 22-yard line after the ensuing kickoff, and on the first play Sanchez hooked up with Kyle Fleming on a 57-yard pass play to move into El Dorado territory. The Tigers worked the ball inside the 10-yard line, and on fourth down from the 1-yard line, Sanchez rolled outside on a keeper and went untouched into the end zone with 27 seconds left.
After a scoreless first quarter, Jeff Evans put Tokay on the scoreboard with a 72-yard punt return in the second period. Sanchez later scored on a 38-yard scramble and then connected with Fleming on a 60-yard TD go put the Tigers up 19-0 just before half.
However, El Dorado returned the ensuing kickoff for a touchdown, changing the momentum going into halftime.
El Dorado scored again in the third and added a two-point conversion to cut the deficit to 19-16.
Fleming extended Tokay's lead to 25-16 midway through the fourth when he scored on a scramble from 12 yards out.
Brandon Berringer led Tokay's defense with 11 tackles and Chris Kranich and Kevin Zamora each had one sack.

For the second week in a row the Tokay Tigers football team pullled off a stellar 40-plus-point performance, as they dazzled the Grape Bowl crowd on Friday night with a 49-7 shellacking of the visiting El Dorado Cougars.
The Tigers, in a near shutout that didn't see the Cougars scoring a touchdown until 2:01 in the fourth, dominated on both sides of the ball and tied a school record on special teams. Kicker Bailey Smith was good on 7-for-7 extra-point attempts, tying the 1999 record of Andrew Reisinger.
