They were no slouches, but the Liberty Ranch Hawks fell back to varsity football reality a bit after their stunning run to the section semifinals in 2011. With assistant Bryan Golder replacing Anthony Linebaugh on the sideline, Liberty Ranch finished 5-5 and fell just short of the playoffs, a late heartbreaker at River City denying them a sixth win.

After Golder stepped down, former Ripon and Modesto Christian assistant Darin Higgins was hired in January. He will try to keep Liberty Ranch in the mix in the ultra-competitive Sierra Valley Conference.
