Outplayed for much of the first two quarters in last week's season opener, Tokay High's football team still held a 14-12 lead over host Downey going into halftime.

But the Tigers, with most of their starters playing both ways, wilted badly in the second half, unable to respond as the Knights scored 21 unanswered points in a 33-14 victory.

Wondering is correct. Manteca did in fact win the section titles in Divisions IV and III the past two years. It was a typographical mistake on my part, and I appreciate it being pointed out.
I regret the error, and thank you very much.

Does Richard know that Manteca won Division IV title last year and D III the year before? I thought D II was the Sacramento schools?

Riding high a week after a Tokay freshman football victory. The freshman were humbled with a 21-0 loss to Manteca. It wasn't that close. They made our boys just plain look slow. Would one consider bringing out the track coach to try and improve team speed for all levels?

Richard, why such negativity in the 1st paragraph? Half the teams in the CIF are 0-1, right now and most have depth problems. Why take a negative approach to the home opener? Why have a scapegoat? Just wondering if the article could have been more positive.

Flawed logic,,because the backs from Downey who were running away from Tokay looked a lot more like Germans from Lodi then North Stockton kids

Is this the 1st year Tokay doesn't have North Stockton kids at their school?
If it is, it sure tells us why their is a lack of team speed out there vs. Downey.
