Lodi coaching legend Don Womble leaves lasting legacy

Don Womble, considered a coaching giant by his students and peers, died Tuesday night after a long battle with leukemia. He was 84.

“It was peaceful. He went with dignity,” his wife of 61 years, Louella “Lou” Womble, said on Wednesday. “He’s in a better place.”
