New high school sports season to reignite old league rivalries

Back in the fall of 2003, word began circulating that the old San Joaquin Athletic Association could be split.
Debates ensued until a new league did in fact get approved the following year and the Tri-City Athletic League was born in 2005. Lodi and Tokay would no longer meet with league implications at stake and at the end of the year. Instead they typically meet in mid-season, not long before their respective leagues were to begin.
