The Liberty Ranch Hawks varsity girls soccer team continued its stellar season by capturing an outright Sierra Valley Conference championship with Tuesday’s 3-1 victory over the Union Mine Diamondbacks in El Dorado. The Hawks (15-2-1, 10-1-1 SVC), who dethroned area power Vista del Lago with the win, scored all their goals in the first half and pitched a shutout after intermission to hang on.

The Hawks’ title marks the first outright league championship in Liberty Ranch’s short history, and the school’s second crown overall. The Hawks’ football team brought home an SVC co-championship in 2011.
