As soon as Nicole Dennis’ bat hit the ball, Sam Armarante was in motion.

Representing the winning run in a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the sixth inning of Wednesday’s Babe Ruth 12-and-under softball championship, Armarante took off toward third. With Tin Grin Indians third base coach Harvey Casillas energetically waving her in, she rounded third, headed home and slid in safely as Tin Grin defeated the Central Valley Anglers Huskies 4-3 at Tom Chapman Field.
