Galt High junior jumper Haran Piggee will be competing in the long jump at the state track and field meet this weekend in Clovis. News-Sentinel sports writer Richard Banas interviewed Piggee on Wednesday as he prepared for the meet.

Q: You are tied for 21st in the state in terms of long jump distance, but only six inches separate you from a 23-foot jump and a potential top-six finish which would mean a medal. Eight inches would put you in the top two. What kind of preparation are you doing to help make up that gap?
