On his first football play of the 2012 season, senior wideout T.J. Ortiz caught the first of his three touchdown passes as he led the Lodi Flames varsity football team to a San Joaquin Athletic Association victory over the winless Franklin Yellowjackets on Friday at Verner Field.

The Flames won 35-6 as Ortiz became academically eligible to play this week, making up for lost time by collecting 179 yards on eight receptions. Quarterback David Simon threw for 199 yards, including touchdown passes of 62, 41 and 11 yards to Ortiz in the first half.
