For 37 years, Gary Knackstedt and Lodi High School have gone hand and hand. Knackstedt taught business classes, was the head coach for the Flames' track and field, cross country and tennis squads and, for the last five years, served as the school's athletic director.

Starting this fall, Knackstedt will no longer be in Lodi's classrooms, at his desk or on the Flames' sidelines or bleachers - except maybe as a fan. After a long career, Knackstedt has retired from Lodi High. Knackstedt recently discussed his career and retirement with the News-Sentinel.

What?! No mention of Gary's work as a Ned Flanders stunt double in The Simpsons movie? . . . Seriously though, Gary was a great A.D.

With a very young Coach Knackstedt at the helm, he lead us to three straight tennis titles in 1974-76. We always had a fun time and I was impressed by his enthusiasm for us to become better players. Enjoy your well-deserved retirement Coach!
