Battle-tested? Not quite. Prepared? Absolutely. Despite not playing in a regional tournament, the Lodi Extreme 16-and-under coach Harvey Casillas is confident that his softball team will be ready for next week’s Babe Ruth World Series. The Extreme automatically qualified for the World Series in Wilson County, N.C., because the regional competition backed out at the last minute.

Casillas said that extra time off will help the team stay fresh for the tournament, which runs from Aug. 1-7. The Extreme did win a 4-2 scrimmage against a 16U travel team at Salas Park last Thursday, and boast plenty of experience.
