It was a thriller from the first minute on. The shots were flying for all 80 minutes of Lodi High’s first-round Division I Sac-Joaquin Section boys soccer playoff game against Turlock on Tuesday, but only one found the back of the net. Lodi’s Frankie Ortiz blasted a shot into the Turlock goal from 18 yards out on an assist from Taylor Cox in the game’s seventh minute and the Flames held on for a 1-0 victory in Turlock.

“It was a great game. They were a great team and they really poured it on,” said Lodi head coach Tim Stutz. “But we had a great effort. All over the field, people were working hard. This is one of the best team efforts we have had in a long time.”
