Lodi High’s drive to the Sac-Joaquin Division I section championship football game was derailed by two things: The Flames could not overcome injuries and Pleasant Grove junior running back Mark Jenkins.

Jenkins rushed for 320 yards and scored six touchdowns as the Eagles stampeded past Lodi, 61-23, in the section playoff semifinals at Sheldon-Pleasant Grove Community Stadium on Friday night.

This was definitely unfortunate for the injured athletes. I certainly hope this young man (Armstrong) is okay and will have a speedy recovery from his knee injury. I wish Lauchland a swift recovery from his leg injury as well.

The heavy tone of this headline and article seems overstated in my opinion. I mean no disrespect, but this is just a high school football game folks. Let's keep this all in perspective here.

Again, best wishes for a speedy recovery to these athletes.

Joey, we wish you a speedy recovery. You are very special to all of us.

Mark and Teresa, my heart bleeds for you. All of us who have children playing sports understand what was going through your mind seeing Joey on the field. You have had more than your share of those moments. We pray everything works out well for you and Joey.
