The Elliot Eagles varsity football team did everything in its power to avoid being shut out on Saturday night, not scoring until late in the fourth quarter during a league-opening 48-6 loss to rival Brookside Knights.

The Eagles were overpowered at Lincoln High School by Brookside's  stellar passing attack and crushing tackles. The Knights (4-2, 1-0 Central California Athletic Alliance) limited Elliot's star running back Ben Huckaby to just 36 yards rushing.
