The Lodi Flames freshman-sophomore girls water polo team took second in the Marin Catholic Invitational, falling to St. Ignatius 9-5 in Saturday's championship match.
In Saturday's first game, Lodi beat Monte Vista 13-7. Taylor Brooks had five goals, Katie Whiteside added three, Karlyn Bertsch and Marissa Joerke both had two and Bailey Maldonado added one. Alisa Watts had five saves and Morgan Powell added two.
In the final, Brooks had three goals and Joerke and Gracie Ferguson added one each. Watts had six saves in the cage.

For the first time in 20 years, the Lodi Flames varsity boys water polo team has won two tournaments in a season after taking the Healy Tournament in Vallejo this past weekend. They had won the Central Valley Tournament in Merced the weekend before.
Lodi (13-2) trounced Ukiah, 14-3, in the Healy quarterfinal match — getting goals from behind 10 different players, including hat tricks from Nic Carniglia and Joe Vanderlans.
