In a must-win week, and the Elliot Eagles varsity baseball team got just the start it needed. With timely hitting, up and down the lineup, and sound defense to support a pitching gem from Austin Vickers, the Eagles toppled the first-place Brookside Knights, 6-0, on Tuesday at Kofu Park in Lodi to keep their league title hopes alive.
“This was a great Brookside team, and it was a complete-team effort by us,” Elliot coach Larry Vickers said. “We have to battle to win every game from here on out if we want that league title. Same for them, so you know it’s going to be a war.”
