Entering the season, Tokay High girls tennis coach Jan Dobler pointed to St. Mary's as the one team standing between the Tigers and a potential league championship. Following the first of three matchups between the teams, it became clear that Tokay's title hopes could indeed run into a Rams' roadblock.
St. Mary's edged Tokay 3-2 on Tuesday at the Marina Tennis Club in Stockton, but the Tigers (2-1 TCAL) showed they could hang with the Rams, stamping their position as the No. 2 team in the Tri-City Athletic League.
