The plan didn’t work. So Kyle Iturraran improvised. And that worked. After a drawn-up play collapsed, the Tokay senior launched himself out of the water and threw in the game-winning goal with six seconds left to lead the Tigers over St. Mary’s 11-10 in Tri-City Athletic League action on a chilly Tuesday night under the lights.
The win not only gave Tokay a three-game season sweep over the Rams, it officially wrapped up the TCAL championship and put the Tigers within one win of pulling off a perfect TCAL season if they beat West on Thursday in their regular-season finale.
