The Lincoln Trojans ended a tense defensive battle on a late free kick, handing the Lodi Flames varsity boys soccer team a 2-1 loss in the regular-season finale for both teams at the University of the Pacific in Stockton on Wednesday.

The loss denied Lodi (11-5-3, 5-3-2 San Joaquin Athletic Association) a chance to capture the league’s No. 2 seed for next week’s Division I playoffs, which went to Tracy. Instead, the Flames will get the SJAA’s final playoff spot and third seed. Lincoln (14-6-5, 8-2 SJAA) took the SJAA title and will receive the league’s top seed.
