Football: Tokay Tigers focused on returning to winning ways

When the topic of last Friday came up, linebacker Austin Mitchell didn’t hide his disappointment. He and the Tokay Tigers varsity football team had their chance for a major statement against perennial league power St. Mary’s. But for a second straight year, the Tigers were brought back to earth by the Rams following a 5-0 start — reminded again that they hadn’t fully arrived yet.

“It’s upsetting,” said Mitchell, whose club looks to rebound from that 41-13 loss when Tokay hosts West at the Grape Bowl tonight. “Honestly, I think we should have done way better, given the opportunities we had. It was definitely a letdown.”
