When the Sportz 4 Kids non-profit holds its first fundraiser on June 23, the operators of the charity hope it can springboard into something that helps local children participate in athletic activities, and through that, the community.

The vision is for the charity to help youths who can’t afford things like cleats, bats, pads and other equipment get involved in the sports they are passionate about. But the organizers are also setting their sights on an achievable first goal — helping to send 20 members of a local taekwondo studio to Florida to compete in the AAU Nationals.
