That changed Friday when Lodi Flames distance runner Phil Kruse was coming down the home stretch in the two-mile. The fans in the grandstands cheered according to Flame coach Robert Winterhalter as Kruse broke the 35-year-old School record in the 3200 before collapsing just past the finish line.
