Despite playing in one of the toughest Division III leagues in the Sac-Joaquin Section, the Galt High girls basketball team could be headed toward its first playoff berth since the 2006-07 season.

The Warriors (5-2 Sierra Valley Conference, 11-9 overall) were seeded No. 8 in the section's DII power rankings, which were released for the first time this season on Monday. The seed, which would give them a home game in the first round, is the highest of all of the local basketball teams.

If a team is any good(as Galt is)it's an advantage playing in a tougher league because of the formula used. The league strength of the SVC is 7.7 which is outstanding(this number will be used a some formula multiplied against W-L record)
