After 12 hours of trying to swim across the choppy, 61-degree waters of the English Channel, with tides pulling his body in every direction but toward his destination, Lodi's Jack Kautz thought of one thing to help him complete his journey across the busy shipping waterway between England and France â€" M&M's.

Refueled and without a wetsuit, Kautz continued the rarely attempted feat, finishing the estimated 31-mile swim in 15 hours and 11 minutes.
