With their starting quarterback sidelined indefinitely by a bum left knee, Oregon State’s breakout season now rests on the shoulders of Cody Vaz.
The redshirt junior from Lodi is set to make his first career start this Saturday, when the 10th-ranked Beavers face a very stingy BYU defense in Provo, Utah. Vaz, who starred at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton, now takes the reins after Oregon State (4-0, 3-0 in the Pac-12) announced on Monday that Sean Mannion would undergo left knee surgery.
