With his team trailing by three, Tokay’s Dan Cervantes (122) spent most of the first round on his back. Had he been pinned, the Tigers would have lost the match.
Instead, Cervantes battled for three periods before pinning his St. Mary’s opponent and putting Tokay ahead for good in their win over the host Rams on Tuesday night.
After Cervantes put Tokay ahead 37-34, Tokay’s Isauro Flores (128) closed out the win by winning a decision in the final match of the night.
David Warneke (140), Dylan Kranich (147). Chad McBride (172) and Leo Alcantara also recorded pins for the Tigers while Erik Schaftlein (197) and Aaron Schrock each won decisions.
