Cubs head coach Matt Luiz said that his baseball players had their heads hanging after four innings. They were down three runs to the White Sox and a loss seemed inevitable. But with some strong hitting in the final two innings, the Cubs scored eight runs to pull off a 9-6 come-from-behind victory over the White Sox to win the Cal Ripken Majors 11-12 championship at Salas Park in Lodi on Monday.

“I’m just proud of the kids that they didn’t give up and kept battling back,” Luiz said. “We were finally able to get enough runs to where we were able to hold them at the end of that sixth inning.”
