Lodi and Tokay high schools will remain non-league rivals and Galt High will drop from Division II to IV if the Sac-Joaquin Section's proposed alignment for the 2010-14 cycle goes through.

The plan, which was released at a public meeting on Wednesday, doesn't change the San Joaquin Athletic Association or Tri-City Athletic League structures in Division I - leaving the cross-town Flames and Tigers separated.

Totally agree with that last part Whoa Nellie! Feeder teams is what will seperate mediocore programs from programs like SM.

RUFKM- you must be young, because a young Pete Saco started his career in town at Tokay. You're seeing something that is just not there.I understand Johnston's comment about seperating public vs private, but would he say that if Tokay had SM's number?Personally don't you want to play the best? Sure, SM has an advantage but stop complaining and help build a youth program to feed the high school teams.

Johnston is right. How are public schools programs going to be able to compete with SM when the people who work at those schools will be receiving IOU's by the end of March.SM loves this because this will only strengthen there appeal as they are building a 7,000 sq. ft. weight room and putting only $250K into it. Ridiculous, if Lodi was stuck with SM in it, Saco would make changes. But they are not and everything stays the same. Way to take the easy way out guys!!!

It seems that Lodi, Bear Creek, Tokay, McNair, Liberty and Galt would make for a good league with lots of rivalry matchups. I realize these are not traditional powers in the section, but it would make for some real close commutes and could develope into great rivalries. It would be nice if Elliot could get large enough to field Frosh, JV and Varsity teams so Lodi could have a city championship. We know lots of those kids from youth football.
