Helping Santa Claus deliver presents

I awoke to the sound of foot steps on my roof. Could that be Santa? I thought.

I ran outside to take a look, sure enough it was Santa and his reindeer!

I said, “Hi, Santa!” I must have scared him for he lost his balance and fell off the roof.

“Santa, are you OK?” I asked.

“My leg hurts, but I’ll be fine,” he said.

Since I felt responsible for his hurt leg, I offered to help him deliver the gifts. Santa accepted my offer, so I hopped into the sparkly red sleigh.

Santa said something to the reindeer, and off we went! We soon landed on a rooftop and I asked Santa, “How am I supposed to get in the house?”

He said, “The chimney, of course!”

I went down the dirty chimney and delivered the gifts. I saw my face in the mirror above the fireplace — I was black from head to toe.

After I delivered the gifts to all the boys and girls in the world, it was time to go home and get some sleep.

As soon as I got home, I got in bead. The next things I remember was waking up to the sound of Christmas music. I started thinking about the dream I had and how neat it would be to really help Santa deliver gifts.

I was excited to see if Santa had eaten the cookies I left for him, so I jumped out of bed to take a look. Sure enough, the cookies were gone!

I woke up my parents and told them it was time to open gifts. As I was opening my first present, the phone rang. My mom went to answer the phone. When she came back she had a shocked look on her face.

She said, “Dylan, that was Santa on the phone. He wanted me to tell you he said thank you for helping him last night.”
