Memories of family Tyli Torres One of my least favorite Christmas moments would have to be in 1995 when I found out Santa Clause wasn’t real. I remember waking up in the middle of the night and seeing my parents putting presents in my stocking. I was only 5 years old, so it was kind of a culture shock. My family always gets together on Christmas. Christmas 1997, I got to meet some family members I’ve never met before. I met three cousins who are now my best friends. I am very grateful to have them, and I think that Christmas brought us together. Another memory that I hold dear are the Christmas dinners. I love the food, and it’s a good reason to get together with your family. Every Christmas I always get really great presents. I remember in 1998, I got this shirt with Hawaiian flowers that all my friends had. I remember being so excited and jumping up and down. Because Christmas is about family and loving, that Christmas was special because it reminded me of my family in Hawaii. I don’t always get to see my family, so in 2001 we went back to Maui where I grew up. It was very fun and it was wonderful to be with the family I left behind. I don’t want to take the feeling of Christmas for granted Christmas is about giving, receiving, and loving your family. It is about bringing loved ones together to eat, laugh, open presents and enjoy each other. Every Christmas, everyone is happy and joyful. I treasure all of my Christmas memories very much.
