Time to light Advent candles

For the next four Sundays many of us will light an "Advent" candle.

It's a time of waiting and reflecting on the coming birth of Christ.

It's hard for children to wait so sometimes an Advent calendar can help as they open up a door each day to see the progression of the story.

It is also a good time for adults , leading their families in this celebration to redirect their focus from commercialism to Christ.

The real reason for the season

As December quickly approaches with it's frenzied festivities filling up our calendars, let's try to promote the "less is best" theory.

  • Less shopping, more resting
  • Less rushing, more reflecting
  • Less worrying, more connecting with God, family and friends

The perfect gift

There is only one perfect gift and that is the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ. It's a free gift to everyone you can't pay for it and you can't earn it, you must simply accept it.

John 3:16 says "For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life."

If you believe this and accept Jesus as your personal Savior you will have the best and most Perfect Gift in the world. This is the Gift we wish for you beyond anything else.

Other gift ideas

When giving gifts this Christmas season we can suggest some very good gifts.

  • We can give the Word of God in a beautiful leather Bible that can last a life time.
  • We can give a majestic nativity set to represent the birth of Christ.
  • We can give books and study guides to help believers and non-believers alike showing the way to Christ and helping them grow in their faith.
  • We can give Max Lucado new book titled "3:16" which is so approiate for this time of year.

Instead of another toy that is quickly discarded, buy a book of Bible stories that will plant a seed that can grow forever.

Stop by Vine and Branches and get a gift worth giving. A gift that will be light in the darkness and hope in a lost world.

The staff from Vine and Branches Christian Bookstore thank you for your support and wish you a blessed Christmas.
