Meandering past vineyards and bucolic farmlands, the Lodi Wine Trail offers visitors a tour of the area's 60-plus wineries and surrounding natural beauty.
Many of the 25,000-plus people who visit the Wine and Visitor Center each year opt to follow the Wine Trail, which recently received signs at key intersections directing wine tasters to the nearest glass of zinfandel, chardonnay or cabernet sauvignon.
One of the easiest starting points on the Wine Trail is at the Wine and Visitor Center, at 2545 W. Turner Road.
From there, head north on Woodbridge Road through the historic town of Woodbridge. Turn left on Mokelumne Road, then left on Davis Road to the Lucas Winery.
Continue south to Turner Road. At the corner of Turner and Davis roads is a multi-directional sign that points the way to several other wineries, including Jessie's Grove, Spenker Winery, Van Ruiten Family Winery and Michael-David Vineyards.
After visiting those wineries, consider going to the east side of the appellation to explore other local havens for winemaking.
Heading east from Lodi on Victor Road, wine tasters can visit the Oak Ridge Winery, Berghold and the Vino Piazza, a sprawling campus that is home to more than 10 wineries, many of which have garnered awards in recent state competitions.
From there, those who still have a thirst can head south on Highway 88 to Omega, then head east on Harney Lane to visit Harmony Wynelands, Vino Con Brio and d'Art Wines.
A trip south on adjacent Curry Road and then a short trip west on Armstrong Road will bring visitors to Borra Vineyards.
Continue west to Lower Sacramento Road, then head north until returning to the Wine and Visitor Center.
