Dear Lodi Visitor: On behalf of the Lodi City Council and the community, welcome to Lodi. The city of Lodi celebrates its 100-year anniversary in 2006 and a myriad of events have been planned including the painting of 10 downtown murals over the Memorial Day weekend. Lodi’s rich heritage is visible through the magnificent architecture preserved in our downtown, which will provide the canvas for the planned murals.
The city of Lodi is known for its exceptional quality of life, the strength and stability of its agricultural base and our citizens who invest in the community to create an ideal place to live, work, raise a family or grow a business. Our collective diversity allows us to maintain and improve the quality of life that so many individuals come to Lodi to enjoy.
As a major California grape growing and winemaking area, Lodi is firmly established as a popular tourist destination. We are the largest grape-growing region in the state — more than 75,000 acres and are world renowned for our zinfandel grape variety. We are home to more than 35 boutique wineries, most with tasting rooms.
Our vision is to meet the needs of the citizens who live and work here by preserving our historical heritage, while embracing new ideas to enhance the active and entertaining lifestyle in the Lodi wine country that so many visitors come back to time and again.
Whether you are interested in moving here, relocating your business, planning a visit, or just browsing, we are a city that specializes in hospitality. We hope you enjoy our community and return again to “livable, loveable Lodi” where we are dedicated to preserving our past and enthusiastic about planning our future.
Susan Hitchcock Mayor
