Lodi Memorial staff and physicians have recognized Hospice of San Joaquin as the provider of hospice care for the Lodi area since the early 1980's. The availability of hospice care is not a matter of having 'a Lodi address' since hospice services are primarily delivered in the homes of the terminally ill. Each day Hospice of San Joaquin deploys its teams of nurses, home health aides, social workers and trained volunteers throughout the Lodi region. In 2006, 149 terminally ill patients and their families were served in the greater Lodi area by Hospice of San Joaquin.

Statin drugs have become the option of choice for most physicians treating patients with high cholesterol levels, a condition known as hypercholesterolemia. Millions of people currently take Lipitor, Zocor and other prescription medications in this class. Statins are very effective at reducing cholesterol, which is why prescriptions for them are so readily doled out by doctors. But what many patients (and doctors) may not realize is that statins can cause a wide variety of painful or potentially dangerous side effects. This leaves the public wondering if there is a safe, FDA-backed option for reducing cholesterol that doesn't produce unwanted side effects, or if such an aggressive cholesterol-reduction regimen is actually necessary.
