What is an online subscription? What do I get when I subscribe?
Lodinews.com uses a “metering” system in which readers will have access to the full site for up to 20 articles (or “clicks”) during a 30-day period. After viewing 20 articles, you will need a subscription to access most articles.
Online subscribers will receive unlimited access to all articles via all platforms, including smartphones, tablets and personal computers.
What does it cost?
Each type of subscription — online, print or e-edition — costs $9.75 per month. Discounts are available for longer subscription terms. Each type of subscription allows you access to the other subscriptions at no extra cost. However, we ask that subscribers to Lodinews.com or the Lodi News-Sentinel e-edition who have paid online contact our Subscriber Services Department at 209-333-1400 if you wish to arrange for home delivery of the Lodi News-Sentinel print edition.

Once you complete the registration, you will automatically be logged in. Click the “My Dashboard” link at the top of the page.

Complete the purchase form (a credit card is required) to buy your subscription.
When does the meter start counting my 20 free pages?
The meter starts when you view specific articles that we have designated as metered content and resets 30 days later. It does not run on a calendar basis so it won’t reset at the beginning of each month. The meter will “reset” 30 days after the date you first view a page of premium content.
What content at Lodinews.com will be free?
The home page and section pages (News, Sports, Business, etc.), weather, Legacy.com obituaries, photos, videos, classified ads and other ad content, searches, content in the opinion section (letters to the editor, columnists, etc.), the Crime and Emergency Services map, blogs and the events calendar will not count toward the 20-article limit.
What content is behind the meter?
Generally speaking, any story written by News-Sentinel reporters.
I want to read an article again. Will that count toward my limit?
No. If you have already viewed an article, you may view it again as many times as you would like without subtracting from your remaining free article views.
How will I know when I'm getting near the 20-article limit?
When you're on a metered page, you will see your remaining free articles at the top of the content area. After you reach the 20-article limit, you'll be reminded that you've reached the limit for the 30-day period and can no longer access metered content.
If I have multiple computers at my residence or place of work, do I need to purchase multiple digital subscriptions?
No. You will be provided a username and password to access Lodinews.com at your residence, at work, on vacation, or anywhere else you have access to a computer or mobile device.
What if I am an existing Lodi News-Sentinel print subscriber?

Do you have a free online option?
Yes. Visitors to Lodinews.com may view up to 10 articles per month before being asked to register with the site at no charge. They may then view up to 20 articles per month absolutely free. Viewing more than 20 articles per month will require an online subscription.
Why are you charging for online access?
Hiring reporters, photographers and editors to cover local news is expensive, and no one else covers news in Lodi as extensively as the Lodi News-Sentinel. In the past, advertising supported our news-gathering efforts, but across the country, newspapers have seen their advertising revenue decline significantly. We are asking our loyal readers to help support our news-gathering ability with subscription revenue.
Why would I want a newspaper subscription and an online subscription?
Purchasing or maintaining a home delivery subscription to the News-Sentinel gives you the best value. It gives you full online access at no additional charge. The newspaper contains content you won’t receive online such as the comics and inserts and special coupons for local stores. The website contains content you won’t receive in print such as videos, additional photos, and breaking news as it is happening.
What’s the difference between registering and subscribing?
All visitors are required to register to view more than 10 articles during any 30-day period. To register, you will select a user name and password to use to login to Lodinews.com. Once logged in, you will be able to view up to 20 articles every 30 days at no charge. You will also be able to comment on articles, subscribe to mailing lists and submit news items and photos through an easy-to-use “dashboard.” Paid online subscribers have the same privileges, but they may view unlimited articles.
What is an e-edition?
An e-edition is an electronic version of our printed paper available online Tuesday through Saturday. It looks like the newspaper and you tab from page to page. You can also view it on an iPads and other tablets.
I already subscribe to the e-edition. Do I also get unlimited access to Lodinews.com?
Yes. If you are already an e-edition subscriber, you have unlimited access to Lodinews.com.
If I subscribe to Lodinews.com, can I also read the e-edition?
Yes. Your subscription to unlimited Lodinews.com access also includes the e-edition.
I subscribe to the e-edition but I can’t view the pages in my web browser.
The News-Sentinel e-edition uses PDFs (Portable Document Format) to display the pages. All modern web browsers are able to display PDFs, although each may have its own ways of doing so and quirks, depending on the operating system (Windows, OS X, etc.) you are using. Here are a couple of links with some instructions and tips on how to get PDFs to work if you are having problems:
You may also be using an outdated browser. Please consider upgrading your browser to a more recent version.
