Tim Tebow’s acts are impressive

Don't let anyone tell you images aren't powerful, both negative and positive. The Tim Tebow controversy over his publicly kneeling in prayer certainly illustrates that idea.

His simple, positively exemplary and faithful act drew the ever-revealing and proverbial line in the sand. What a powerfully quiet and impressive act for the cause of Christ.

The media asks, "Does God really care about football?" The secular professor answers, "What God?" and the Christian professor professes, "Not one whit, but does God care about people who play football? You betcha."

The simple truth is that God is sovereign and in charge of His creation. He calls the plays whether we like it or not. God will use what He wants to use for His own glory and will, and if that happens to be a fairly talented quarterback and a Sunday afternoon football game, He can — or not

In any case, Tebow's "Tebowing" is an uplifting image to our kids and all of us. My dear old dad used to say if our words and deeds don't glorify God and uplift each other, we shouldn't do them.

Off the subject a bit: So sucking on a joint isn't as sickening as sucking on a coffin nail. Did you read about the research and study conclusion that smoking marijuana isn't as damaging as smoking tobacco? You don't have to be a genius to see where this is headed.

Maybe we who love a warm fireplace or wood-stove fire but are discouraged from using them because of alleged air pollution and effects on PG&E's bottom line could start burning marijuana stalks and stems to warm our homes and "medicate" the air.
