Immorality is to blame for global woes

The U.S. economy has ground to a halt. Unemployment is rising, and the housing market is seeing foreclosures in numbers that are breaking all records.

The 2007 mortgage meltdown and banking crisis is the second-worst financial disaster in our country's history.

The higher global food and oil prices we're experiencing mean that we're in for a tough year economically. The U.S. seems paralyzed by indecision and disagreement about a definite answer for this costly problem.

America is losing its economic might. Our economy is sluggish, our banking system is fragile and we as a people are smothered by materialism as evidenced by our personal and national debt.

Our economy has some major cracks and fissures that foreshadow a possible economic collapse as in the 1930s.

We are quickly losing our ability to influence the world. We mired ourselves in Iraq, much like we did in Vietnam. We've made ourselves dependent on Middle Eastern oil, and these countries are using their "sovereign wealth funds" to undermine our economy and position in the world.

The E.U. is already the No. 1 trading bloc in the world, and her gross domestic product is now greater than the U.S.

Holy scripture teaches, "Be not deceived. God is not mocked, for whatsoever man sows, that shall he also reap."

We have lost our moral compass and our economic woes are in direct proportion to our moral failure.

We've murdered 53 million of our unborn babies since 1973, divorced and abandoned our families with abandon, molested our children, practice and accept sexual perversion as normal behavior. Now we thumb our noses at God by legalizing homosexual marriage.

Our country is spiritually bankrupt. Our judicial system mirrors our value system - corruption at all levels of church, state and business.

Holy scripture teaches us a fundamental truth. Israel is our paradigm, and obedience brings blessing and disobedience brings judgment (Deuteronomy 28:1-68).

So here we stand, weakened by our hedonism and debauchery - unashamed, remorseless and unrepentant of our perversion and decadence. We are such pitiful fools.
