Well below the radar of public awareness is the fact that Vladimir Putin is tightening the screws on religion in Russia, especially on Christian churches.

Laws are continually being passed, amended and reinterpreted to restrict or deny religious activities.

Christian leaders are expelled from and denied entrance into Russia. It is being done quietly, and the oppressed victims of this subtle return to atheism know any protests will bring more persecution.

The best way for Americans to help their Russian Christian brethren is to donate money for Bibles and teaching supplies through churches with an outreach being the Shadow Curtain surrounding the old Soviet Union.

Vladimir (the name of a Russian saint) Putin is no friend of freedom, religion or the press. He remains 100 percent Marxist.

The leadership of Pope John Paul II helped start the crumbling of communism, first in Poland, and then in other satellite countries. Grand gestures and sweeping forms of resistance used in the past will not be found in this re-hardening opposition to Christianity in Russia.

Prayer and sacrificial giving are the weapons of the spirit in this battle for souls. We Americans must win it if we are to survive; we are still the most hated country in the world.
