Some Christians have hostile attitudes

Lately I have been disturbed by several hostile letters from some who profess to be believing, practicing Christians.

After Pastor Steve Newman's theologically sound response to the absurd notion that California's recent wildfires were God's punishment for the newest civil rights equality, he himself was castigated as a false prophet. No wonder so many outside the church reading such words believe all Christians are judgmental, intolerant, narrow-minded and rigid.

The previous letter is further proof that religion breeds insanity.

what you infer...."we are throwing stones at each other", is another way of saying you aren't willing to own up to the other side of Gods character, which is the way he deals harshly (at times) with man's disobedience/rebellion.what mary sanders was alluding to is that God "doesn't" take to task his creation any longer in that manner, and that we are autonomous from his "checks and balances". not so ms. sanders. not even biblically close. in fact, you are only representing half of the character of God. as history and the biblical record shows, God "could" allow judgements of these kinds. did he? i have NO idea, but he certainly could have, and THAT'S an accurate biblical representation of God.the reason that the ms. sanders of the world aren't willing to own the other half of God's character, is for the same reason steve newman straddled the fence....people. more worried about the opinions of people (i.e. filling pews), then they are about accuretly reperesenting God. if you were to own the other half of Gods character ms. sanders, your congregation would be few.God over people EVERYTIME
