Congratulations and thanks to the News-Sentinel's religion page editor, Ross Farrow, for this diverse and fair-minded forum of ideas.

My dad used to say we don't really know where we stand until we're challenged. Thank you for this challenging and thought-provoking opportunity for discussion.

After reading the News-Sentinel's article, "Lodi Baha'is draw leaders' attention to religious prejudice," it was disappointing not to see our own Christian community, especially our pastors, speak up and out on behalf of the all-inclusive exclusivity of Christianity.

Prejudice is defined as a judgment or opinion formed before the facts are known, preconceived idea or prejudgment held in disregard of the facts that contradict it; unreasonable lies.

Since the facts are in, and the fulfillment of biblical prophecy before our very eyes testifies to the fact of Christ Jesus is lord and savior, and since this truth is non-contradictory, the term "prejudice" does not apply to Christianity.

And since Christ Jesus is the way, the truth and the life, Christianity is the reality … the relationship with our father, the one true living God Jehovah.

No other religious faith, not Hinduism, Islam, Buddhism, Zoroastrianism, paganism, Baha'i, not even Judaism offers us a savior … salvation from our sin.

Christianity alone offers justification, sanctification and reconciliation with Jehovah through his love, mercy and forgiveness manifested in his son, Christ Jesus. This is truth, not prejudice.

Indeed, there is religious prejudice prevalent in our communities. The next time you're in a group of people, just drop the name of Jesus … immediately lines are drawn in the sand, sides are taken, hackles are raised and names are called.

Why? The answer is simply that the world has no reason to hate us, but it hates Christ Jesus because he bears witness to the sinfulness of the world (John 7:7).

We oppose Jehovah out of jealous envy and covetousness of his holiness, righteousness, justice and love. We refuse to accept our sinful fallen nature and resent and reject our accountability to sovereign God.
