Katsuya Kusunoki had a definite learning curve when he became minister of the Buddhist Church of Lodi. That's because he's participating in his first ministerial assignment, and he's lived most of his life in Japan.

Kusunoki, who will turn 34 in August, wanted to leave Japan and see the world. He was a volunteer baseball coach for two years in Zimbabwe in a Japanese program similar to the Peace Corps in America.
