Wade Broughton, 57, has been called as bishop of the Lodi Second Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He replaces Cory Brink, who was bishop for the past six years.
In the LDS church, a bishop is the leader of a local congregation known as a ward, with duties similar to those of a pastor, priest or rabbi. He is a member of the congregation who has been asked by church authorities to serve in this unpaid position.
