Carol Splain from Woodbridge will be serving an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Las Vegas as an employment resource specialist. She reported for training on Oct. 8 at the Missionary Training Center in Provo, Utah.
As a retired teacher, Splain sent a mission application to church headquarters and was called by LDS President Thomas S. Monson to serve in Nevada. She will be part of a large resource center in Las Vegas which includes a welfare center, LDS social services, bishops' storehouse and a home and mission office for the Las Vegas West Mission.
