Letter: We need level heads, God and cooperation to improve our economy

It is refreshing to read a letter to the editor from somebody who seems to have a level head for a change. I’m referring to Ron Portal’s letter to the News-Sentinel, “It’s time to stop the assault on our personal liberties,” Feb. 11.

We are all to blame for America’s ills, not just one president or one political party. Radical bipartisanship is seriously dividing our country. That’s because we want to put our trust in men (and women) in politics instead of our creator, who is none other than God.

The Democrats seem to hate God’s precepts and have no tolerance for Christians, although they expect Christians to tolerate their ungodly nonsense. And the Republicans lack the moral courage to back up God’s word (just go and listen to the watered down “preaching” in our churches nowadays). Modern pastors are Sunday school teachers. They are not preachers.

I recently read a letter in the Sacramento Bee alleging President Obama is responsible for the wide income gap between rich and poor and the resulting diminishing middle class in this country. Isn’t that just like the Republicans? First, they try to deny that there is any serious income inequality in the first place, then they say it is Obama’s and the Democrats’ fault. Read your Bible, hypocrites! What did Jesus say to the rich man?
