The famine of the Word of God (Amos 8: 11-12): “Behold the days come, said the Lord God, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the word of the Lord. They shall wander from sea to sea and from north to east; they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the Lord and shall not find it.”

This famine takes place in most of our churches today. The plan today is to make the church as much like the world as possible so that unregenerate people will not feel uncomfortable and will be attracted to its ministry.

Turn the church into a theater; worship into a musical display; ministers into actors and clowns to amuse and entertain; sermons into political, patriotic or philosophical essays; and the living God into a good buddy whose attributes are adjustable to any culture or creed. This will attract the flesh and successfully quench the Spirit.

Preachers today are licensed and ordained by their church; men of old were ordained and sent by God. Preachers today go forth armed with degrees and credentials; men of old went forth anointed by the Holy Spirit. Preachers are questioned by committees and hired to preach what their church believes; men of old came preaching.

Thus said the Lord, “Preachers today give themselves to programs, visitation, church business; men of old gave themselves to prayer and the ministry of the Word. Preachers today preach and men are persuaded to move their membership; men of old preached, and they were pricked in their hearts and cried, ‘Men and brethren, what shall we do?’”

Preachers today pray, and the organ plays softly. Elisha prayed, and the fire of God fell. Modern religion says to the sinner, you take the first step, and God will do the rest. God says to the sinner, “Without me, ye can do nothing. You have no ability and no will to come to me. I will come and be gracious to whom I will be gracious. Grace always takes the initiative in salvation.” Preachers today are afraid that they will offend someone; Paul was afraid that he would not.

Willie I guess you better check your quotes the quote is “thus saith the lord” what you put in quotations was not a quote from God but instead a quote from the article you plagiarized. Don’t you know that any sentence can be goggled and more than likely the plagiarized article can be found and revealed as a stolen piece of material didn't God mention something about not stealing.

Well, you have to consider the source. Mr. Hillyard also calls women "Cows" and blames them for all evils.

"And women should obey the Word and be silent and go home and talk with their husbands re: any questions. "If you love me keep my commandments.""

Awesome. Religion: come for the fantasy, stay for the subjugation.

Thanks Willie, I've been looking for a church to attend here in the Angels Camp area. I've visited others in the area and they seem to be attended by a click of friends and do some pretty odd things. One sang a song of "Turning our face to the Rising Sun" which is forbidden as the sun is not God.
Last Sunday I attended another Church and told the preacher that I'm not interested in attending a church which only preaches "Jesus loves me this I know for the Bible tells me so." That's ok for little children but when church's stop at that point the whole message is missed.
I also wonder why the church's don't follow the Apostles teaching on how to conduct a meeting...1 Cor 14: (Orderly Worship)
26 "What then, brothers? When you come together,..."

It's ok for a preacher to take up the full hour or two with a sermon but many actually buy sermons and preach that. Where's the Holy Spirit involved in that? The men in the congregation should be able to speak as the Holy Spirit gives him a message. And women should obey the Word and be silent and go home and talk with their husbands re: any questions. "If you love me keep my commandments."
