Supreme Court turned against Christianity in 1947

In the News-Sentinel on Aug. 3, I took exception to a religion letter to the editor written by David Diskin entitled, “The U.S. was not founded on Christian principles.”

Really Mr. Diskin?

Any honest study would reveal the many quotations of the Founding Fathers, which establishes the fact that they were indisputably Christians; every document leading up to the writing of the United States Constitution made reference to God.

In fact, the House Judiciary Committee of 1854 said, “in this age, there is no substitute for Christianity ... that was the religion of the founders of the republic, and they expected it to remain the religion of their descendants.”

Further, in 1892, the Supreme Court relied on 87 precedent actions and cases when it declared, “This is a Christian nation.” Each Supreme Court knew this fact until 1947, when the court failed to consider this long-standing precedent in its Everson vs. Board of Education ruling.

The Everson ruling resulted in an ongoing assault against Christianity where the Court has failed to express America’s true identity and the core values of our civilization. This despite the fact the Supreme Court, to this day, begins all its sessions with the words, “God save the United States and this honorable court.”

If this most unfortunate condition is not reversed, our next generation will have no understanding of true American values as well as the religion of our Founding Fathers. This will result in the destruction of America as we know it. God save America and its people.

    Mr Stamos
Has several failings in his letter that lead to this unfortunate understanding.
    1. The use of the word "god" does not in and of itself imply christianity
